Cybersecurity is the overall activity of protecting computers, networks, and data from malicious electronic attacks. It is an activity that compares to physical security, a more traditional security activity that controls access to buildings or other objects in the real world. While many high-tech physical security vendors have a combination of physical and cybersecurity in their org charts, cybersecurity is an activity that focuses on protecting assets from malicious logins and code, not on property intrusion or theft. Cybersecurity is a broad concept that encompasses several specific fields of activity. There are many classification methods. For example, there is Kaspersky Lab's classification system, and Mindcore has such a system.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most powerful technological forces in this era and, while it began in the data centre, it's moving quickly to the edge. NVIDIA's Charlie Boyle says that one of the biggest things the sector is seeing – which started at the end of 2020 but accelerated into 2021 – is the idea of an AI centre of excellence for companies and institutions. "There's a big change from what we were seeing a few years ago. Previously, when people worked on AI, it would tend to start small, getting some results and would grow over time," he explains. "We are engaging with a lot of customers today, who have realised that starting very small and growing organically may not get them the results they need in the next couple of years. Before, an individual researcher or a small team may procure one or two systems, a little bit of infrastructure, some networking and storage. "Now, we are seeing that more at a strategic level inside of the company where, in order to achieve even basic results, management is realising it needs a critical mass of infrastructure to carry out the experiment to drive the applications that they need.

It must be admitted that the reputation of artificial intelligence as a "panacea" is far ahead of it. Research, demonstrations, and publications in this field only reinforce this assumption. The topic has an almost magical attraction for many people. With all the great possibilities, however, we should don't get carried away and look at the issue more soberly and practically. When the government and some other institutions promised billions some time ago, the euphoria was great at first. Not much has remained of this euphoria (at least in Germany) and where / whether the billions will flow in their entirety, nobody knows exactly.

A new project funded under the European Research and Development Fund (ERDF) will help foster innovation linked to Artificial Intelligence in Southern Spain. As La Vanguardia reported the Andalusia Tech Campus of International Excellence, formed by the universities of Seville and Malaga, has achieved the highest score possible for its Innovative Ecosystem with Artificial Intelligence for Andalusia 2025 project. This will enable them to receive the maximum amount of funding from the Feder program - a grand total of two million euros. Andalusia Tech initiative meets the priority objective of the operational program, namely reinforcement of research, technological development and innovation. The project thus aims to create an innovation ecosystem based on artificial intelligence.
